Earth Day - Supporting Our Future

This year’s Earth Day is all about Environmental and Climate Literacy. As custodians of this amazing planet we all need to learn how our actions can help or hinder the environment. Here’s a few of the things we do to reduce our footprint…You can too!

RapidStudio's Solar Array

Recycle

RapidStudio sorts waste before collection. We learned it improves recycling so made a special sorting area in 2014. We can all learn and improve to help the environment.

Rainwater

Using rainwater tanks not only saves money, it saves the environment too! We collect water from a quarter of our roof and will collect even more next year. Small steps make a big impact. We can’t wait to see how much we’ve saved!

Energy

RapidStudio generates 1/3 of our power through renewable energy. We’ve made enough to power 10 small homes for 4 years! That’s the same as running the ICE-3 high speed train for 3200km. Impressive! You can also save money and power by switching to low energy lighting. We made the switch in Jan 2015 and went an extra step to remove lighting in unused areas. We’re so glad we did.

Transport

In February we improved our fleet of company vehicles by moving to 900cc Kia Picantos. Improved fuel economy not only saves us money at the pump, it reduces air and noise pollution. A fleet of electric cars are the next step!

I hope this tutorial will help you realise your design intent more accurately and efficiently. You will probably start with a page layout something similar to this We are going to start with top row of pictures. The following explanation only refers to the top row, we will be dealing with the rest of the images a bit later. First of all we need to move the pictures next to each other horizontally to see if they will fit in the "Safe Area" of the page. In this example the pictures are too wide and overlap the safe area horizontally. Please note that you will have to leave a decent amount of space between th

To me, 2020 has been more about consolidating memories than creating them. With lockdown and the threat of a global pandemic that posed particular threat to the elderly, in March, I found myself holding those in my home a little closer, anxiously worried and on the phone daily to loved ones outside my home and on my computer a lot, scrolling through old family holiday pics and reliving the wonderful memories shared. Like everyone, we’ve missed the family getaways and braai gatherings in 2020, but I’ve really valued consolidating. Nothing like a threat to remind us
