Team Building @ Gold Reef City

Image
Early Morning on Wednesday the 19th of August, I asked my flu if we could have "THE TALK", I’m sure there and then, it knew it was time for us to part ways. There was no way I was gonna miss Gold Reef City, just the week before someone asked me “when was the last time you did something for the first time?” and I couldn’t answer them. I was ready to take on the roller coasters. Group photo of some of us before we started. We’ve had so many team building sessions in the past but this was by far the best for me and for most of my colleagues. We were divided into 4 teams, Red, Blue, Green and Black for an Amazing Race type of challenge. I was in the Black Team, we wanted to win but we all decided that having fun was important too! We watched a 15 minute 4d movie, which was absolutely incredible but then, it was time for thrill ride number 1, the Tornado, just looking at it made my tummy turn and I unfortunately decided to sit it out, watching my team mates being tossed an

RapidStudio recognises its outstanding staff

Image
Just a few days ago, RapidStudio held its staff  awards  ceremony. Perhaps we’re a bit partial, but it seems that the  awards  ceremony is the icing on the cake. As team members here at RapidStudio, we get to experience a dynamic, fun work environment. We enjoy our work so much, and RapidStudio’s management takes the time to show that they appreciate all of our hard work. Plus, we get to show appreciation for each other.  Waiting in the lounge for everyone to arrive Ahead of the  awards , all of the staff rated each other. Team leaders and management also rate everyone on the team. Then, based on the “scores” from the votes, the cream of the crop is recognized with a special  award .  Mike manning the certificate table while Shaun addresses the staff The team that placed ahead was “RapidStudio Professional”. This elite team is in charge of hand making all of the Ultimate albums, as well as our other products that are specially designed for professional photographers.

RapidStudio 702 Walk the Talk 2015

Image
In 2014 RapidStudio started the tradition of coming together as a company and entering the annual 702 Walk the Talk. At first I think many people felt daunted by the task of huffing and puffing for 8km’s with the people you are stuck in a building with for most of your week but we we’re surprised to find that (almost) everyone came out in numbers in support of the event and even brought along their children and family members, and this year’s event was no different! The morning started out in typical winter fashion with everyone moaning and groaning that they could no longer feel their fingers, but as our team started making their way to the 8km starting line, all dressed in yellow, the excitement welling up and soon, melted away this harsh Joburg winter morning. As we waited at the starting line the crowd of over 20 000 strong was entertained by musicians, 702 presenters and even treated to a fly-over of 2 helicopters and an air plane piloted by memb

Getting creative for Mandela Day 2015

Image
Mandela  Day is a time for giving back, and the RapidStudio team spent its 67 minutes of service working on a very special project.  Fran painting a Frog RapidStudio staff, family, and kids took from the Paint By Shadow concept to create bold alphabet canvases. Each canvas featured a letter of the alphabet and an image of an animal or object that started with that letter. Instead of using imagery that might be traditional for children in other parts of the world, we decided to use images that would be more familiar to most South African children.  A selection of completed canvases Together we painted two full sets of alphabet canvases and donated them to Flying Children, a local charity that focuses on improving care for preschool children in under-served areas. The program places an emphasis on supporting orphans and disadvantaged kids by delivering skill-building workshops for teachers, parent training, aftercare service building, and more.  Tonia brought
