Canvas Clocks! A new innovative decor solution.

Image
The RapidStudio team has been hard at work on an exciting new product, and we’re super pleased to launch the all new line of Canvas Clocks. Now our customers will be able to customize these specialized clocks from our website and have them shipped directly to their door. Our Canvas Clocks are available in a wide range of styles and offer a sleek elegance that can accentuate virtually any space, including offices, kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, and more. We carefully wrap the canvases and ensure that the clocks rest flush against the wall, and then we install the clock mechanism. When customers receive their Canvas Clocks, they only need to install batteries to see their custom creation come to life. The only consideration that customers need to keep in mind is that they leave enough room along the borders of their images for wrapping. Since we wrap the edges of the images around the edges of the clocks, the subject should ideally be centered. Other than that, we make it

5 Creative Cover-ups with Canvas

Image
My house was built in 1948 which makes her an old dame of 67 years. Only fair to expect a few wrinkles here and there.  So she is in need of some TLC.  Between school runs, day job and the dreaded thought of builders in my home I have come up with some creative ideas to cover up some horrors in my house.  Maybe you have them too! Horror Number 1 The crack! I have a crack through my bathroom tiles from the hot water pipe behind. This canvas has hidden this problem without me having to re-tile and has also added warmth and texture to a stark white bathroom. Tip – don’t hang a canvas directly over a bath or shower as the steam may affect its stretch on the frame. Cracked tiles - Before Beautiful Canvas - After Horror number 2 DIY plaster jobs! I covered up this bad attempt at plastering using a frame covered in fabric which complemented my kitchen décor (as opposed to choosing a printed canvas) DIY - Before DIY - After

Team Building @ Gold Reef City

Image
Early Morning on Wednesday the 19th of August, I asked my flu if we could have "THE TALK", I’m sure there and then, it knew it was time for us to part ways. There was no way I was gonna miss Gold Reef City, just the week before someone asked me “when was the last time you did something for the first time?” and I couldn’t answer them. I was ready to take on the roller coasters. Group photo of some of us before we started. We’ve had so many team building sessions in the past but this was by far the best for me and for most of my colleagues. We were divided into 4 teams, Red, Blue, Green and Black for an Amazing Race type of challenge. I was in the Black Team, we wanted to win but we all decided that having fun was important too! We watched a 15 minute 4d movie, which was absolutely incredible but then, it was time for thrill ride number 1, the Tornado, just looking at it made my tummy turn and I unfortunately decided to sit it out, watching my team mates being tossed an

RapidStudio recognises its outstanding staff

Image
Just a few days ago, RapidStudio held its staff  awards  ceremony. Perhaps we’re a bit partial, but it seems that the  awards  ceremony is the icing on the cake. As team members here at RapidStudio, we get to experience a dynamic, fun work environment. We enjoy our work so much, and RapidStudio’s management takes the time to show that they appreciate all of our hard work. Plus, we get to show appreciation for each other.  Waiting in the lounge for everyone to arrive Ahead of the  awards , all of the staff rated each other. Team leaders and management also rate everyone on the team. Then, based on the “scores” from the votes, the cream of the crop is recognized with a special  award .  Mike manning the certificate table while Shaun addresses the staff The team that placed ahead was “RapidStudio Professional”. This elite team is in charge of hand making all of the Ultimate albums, as well as our other products that are specially designed for professional photographers.

RapidStudio 702 Walk the Talk 2015

Image
In 2014 RapidStudio started the tradition of coming together as a company and entering the annual 702 Walk the Talk. At first I think many people felt daunted by the task of huffing and puffing for 8km’s with the people you are stuck in a building with for most of your week but we we’re surprised to find that (almost) everyone came out in numbers in support of the event and even brought along their children and family members, and this year’s event was no different! The morning started out in typical winter fashion with everyone moaning and groaning that they could no longer feel their fingers, but as our team started making their way to the 8km starting line, all dressed in yellow, the excitement welling up and soon, melted away this harsh Joburg winter morning. As we waited at the starting line the crowd of over 20 000 strong was entertained by musicians, 702 presenters and even treated to a fly-over of 2 helicopters and an air plane piloted by memb

Getting creative for Mandela Day 2015

Image
Mandela  Day is a time for giving back, and the RapidStudio team spent its 67 minutes of service working on a very special project.  Fran painting a Frog RapidStudio staff, family, and kids took from the Paint By Shadow concept to create bold alphabet canvases. Each canvas featured a letter of the alphabet and an image of an animal or object that started with that letter. Instead of using imagery that might be traditional for children in other parts of the world, we decided to use images that would be more familiar to most South African children.  A selection of completed canvases Together we painted two full sets of alphabet canvases and donated them to Flying Children, a local charity that focuses on improving care for preschool children in under-served areas. The program places an emphasis on supporting orphans and disadvantaged kids by delivering skill-building workshops for teachers, parent training, aftercare service building, and more.  Tonia brought

RapidStudio Talk: Boudoir Photography. With Chantal Drummond.

Image
On June 18, RapidStudio presented an exclusive boudoir photography workshop. The host was industry leader Chantal Drummond from Femme Fatale . It was an incredible evening, and if you weren't there, then we’ll fill you in on what you missed.  Photograph courtesy Megan Skews This grand event was held in the restaurant of The Maloko Capitol Hotel, where each of our guests was received for welcome drinks in the Blue Room by the accommodating staff.   There was food and conversation, and our audience was simply amazing, participating throughout the evening. Chantal shared her wisdom, tips, and tricks related to the field of boudoir. Covering all facets of the niche, the main goal of the evening was to show that all women are beautiful and that a photographer can even help a woman rediscover this.  Photograph courtesy Megan Skews As we mentioned, the audience was fantastic. There were photographers of all levels there: some who wanted to break into boudoir and o

Father’s Day 2015: 10 reasons why we love Dad!

Image
Fathers Day is coming around again, and it’s the one and only day of the year that you cant moan at your dad for all the embarrassing stuff he does! But lets be honest… those cringeworthy traits are the reason we love them! Here are the top 10 reasons why we love Dad: Their lame ‘dad jokes’ that they think are SO funny!! They are on all Social Media… but do they REALLY know what is going on? They are always so innovative. They taught us how to do all the COOL things… that we eventually broke our bones doing! Always willing to help out when mom cuts you off! They also taught us how to drink, like champs! They took care of us as BEST as they could, when nobody else could. Because he never had a favourite child…. They protected you, they still do. Your dada dressed like a superhero just because you said he must…. In fact, your dad IS a SUPERHERO!
