- Reputable shops use SSL protection for online money transactions. SSL is an
encryption method that keeps your personal and banking details private safe while using the site.
- If the store
hasn’t got SSL, make sure it uses an SSL protected payment provider, like Payfast. Otherwise, think
twice. With no SSL encryption, your details are open for middlemen to steal
your private information.

lie and tell you they have SSL encryption, but your web browser will tell you
the truth in the address bar. An SSL encrypted site will have a green coloured
lock in the address bar on the web address. If the certificate has Extended Validation, it will also display the registered business name.
